It will be released on hand-numbered 7" vinyl (limited to 500) backed with the track Fast Forward. Some members of the band - all of whom are aged 13 and 14 - have known each other since they were two years old, but didn't form Lo-Fi Culture Scene until 18 months ago. Tom MacColl (drums) had previously been jamming with his big brother's band Bombay Bicycle Club until he was kicked out for "not being cool enough", and Lo-Fi's first gig was playing covers at a street party on the road on which three of the band live. Since then, rehearsals in Tom's basement have taken precedence over choosing their GCSE options, and a set of high-octane indie tunes has been written that takes influence from Bloc Party, The Strokes, Radiohead and Neutral Milk Hotel. In their short time together, Lo-Fi have already accomplished an incredible amount. They recently played the Astoria supporting Les Savy Fav and the Islington Academy with Good Shoes, as well as other supports with Bloc Party, Foals and Mumm-Ra - not forgetting a memorable house party with Lethal Bizzle. They have already attracted the attention of many within the music industry, including John Fortis (Razorlight, The Pipettes, Assembly Now) who produced 'Abstract' Lo-Fi are proving themselves to be as good, if not better, than their older compatriots, and are poised to storm the indie scene with an abundance of catchy riffs, an impeccably tight rhythm section, and the type of addictive choruses that most bands would kill to write. |
